Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. – Senior forward
Dean Search (Cream Ridge, N.J.) scored the lone goal of the match to give the Arcadia University men's soccer team a 1-0 victory over Cairn University at the Cailella Soccer Classic, hosted by Rutgers-Camden.
The Knights improved to 1-1-1 after picking up their first win of the young season, while the Highlanders fell to 1-1-0.
Shots in the first half were nearly even with Cairn holding a slight 7-6 edge, but Arcadia had the better scoring opportunities with a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Knights then took over the game in the second half, outshooting the Highlanders 15-6 in the period. All that pressure finally paid off when Search found the back of the net in the 61st-minute to break the scoreless deadlock.
Senior keeper
Ryan Lantzy (Phoenixville, Pa.) registered four saves in the match to improve his record to 1-1-1 for the season, while fellow senior keeper Dave Shaffer (Denver, Pa.) had 10 stops in taking the loss for Cairn, was credited with a team save on a shot taken by junior midfielder
Alex Wells (Hockessia, Del.) just before Search's goal.
Arcaia will be back in action Sunday at the Cailella Soccer Classic when it takes on host Rutgers-Camden at 4:30 p.m.
