Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – Four different players found the back of the net as the Arcadia University women's soccer team recorded a 5-1 non-conference victory over visiting Rosemont College Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. Freshman back/midfielder
Caty Davenport (Berwick, Pa.) scored her first two goals of the season for the Knights.
Arcadia improved to 2-0-2 with the victory, while the Ravens fell to 2-1-0 after suffering their first loss of the season.
Freshman forward
Lennon Kramer (Nazareth, Pa.) got the scoring started with her second goal of the season just 5:50 into the game as she put in a feed from junior midfielder
Anastasia Stratton (Lancaster, Pa.), but sophomore forward Lauren Whelan (Bridgeton, N.J.) had the answer for Rosemont as she knocked the ball over the Knights' defense for a breakaway. Junior keeper
Veronica Willig (Lancaster, Pa.) charged out of the net in an attempt to break up the play, but Whelan was just able to chase the ball down first and place it past the diving Willig.
The Knights took control of the game after that, scoring two straight goals to close out the second half and four unanswered tallies overall.
Junior forward
Kim Canfield (Hillsborough, N.J.) put Arcadia ahead for good in the 30th-minute with her third goal of the season, and Davenport made it a 3-1 lead in the 41st-minute with her first goal of the season. Freshman midfielder
Karis Poore (Reading, Pa.) scored her first goal of the year in the 58th-minute with an assist from senior midfielder
Rachel Dolly (Quakertowm Pa.), and Davenpot capped the scoring in the 68th-minute for the 5-1 final.
Willig and senior keeper
Jackie Law combined for the shutout for Arcadia, with Willig tallying all three of the Knights' saves in 76 minutes in net in her first start of 2013. Sophomore keeper Andrea Dossantos (Townsend, Del.) had eight saves in net for the Ravens as her record fell to 2-1-0.
Arcadia outshot Rosemont 18-6 in the game, outshooting the Ravens by six in each half, and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Knights will next host a non-conference match against Gwynedd-Mercy College Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Easton Field. There will be a Water Ice giveaway and a halftime shooting contest and fans who take part in the Facebook/Twitter Challenge will be eligible to win an Arcadia prize pack.
