Men's Basketball Team Opens 2014 with Conference Game against Lycoming Saturday

ABOUT ARCADIA: The Knights went just 1-4 in their last five games of 2013 after jumping out to a 3-1 start to the year. Arcadia is averaging 72.8 points per game during that slump while allowing 84.2 points per game to its opponents. The Knights have struggled at the free throw line, shooting just 61 percent the last five games, two of which (Albright and Stevenson) could have easily being victories. Junior forward Joe Brown leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 15.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, and also leads the squad with 16 steals and 10 blocked shots. Junior guard Travis Saltus is second in scoring at 11.7 points per game and leads the team with 28 assists, while fellow junior guard Aaron Lee-Webb is averaging 10.6 points per contest. Junior forward Jose Figueroa is averaging 9.9 points and 6.1 boards per contest.

ABOUT LYCOMING: The Warriors are 5-4 for the season after falling in the championship game of their Louis Fleming Basinger Memorial Tournament to McDaniel 62-57 Tuesday night. Lycoming opened the tournament with a 75-51 win over the University of New England. The Warriors also struggled to close out 2013, going 1-3 over their last four games. Senior forward Kevin Anthony leads the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game and is tied for second on the team in rebounding with six rebounds per contest. Senior forward Michael Rudy is second on the team in scoring with 14.7 points per game and leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per contest. He also leads the team with 26 blocked shots and is third in assists with 26. Senior center Justin Miller is averaging 11.1 points and six rebounds per game, while sophomore guard William Wingate averages 10.7 points and 4.3 boards per game.

ABOUT THE SERIES: The Warriors swept the season series a year ago, taking a 90-72 win in Williamsport and an 82-76 victory in Glenside, giving Lycoming nine consecutive wins over Arcadia. The Knights last win in the series was a 61-56 victory back on January 17, 2009 at Alumni Gymnasium.

NEXT UP: Arcadia will be back at Alumni Gymnasium Monday to host a 7 p.m. non-conference game against Penn State Abington. Lycoming will next travel to Messiah Wednesday for an 8 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
