Women's Basketball Starts New Year with Conference Game against Lycoming Saturday

ABOUT ARCADIA: The Knights lost back-to-back games to close out 2013, dropping a 55-51 non-conference game at home to Drew and then falling at Lebanon Valley 65-39 in a Commonwealth Conference contest December 18. Sophomore guard Mary Badeen leads the team in scoring with 15.5 points per game and ranks second on the team with 23 steals in her first season at Arcadia. She is also averaging 5.9 rebounds per contest. Fellow sophomore guard Samantha Caligiuri is second on the team in scoring with 12.8 points per game and leads the team with 30 assists and 28 steals. Junior forward Valerie DiMuro is averaging 9.3 points and 6.4 boards per game.

ABOUT LYCOMING: The Warriors are 5-4 overall this season after falling in the championship game of their Hoops for Hounds Tournament to Susquehanna, 58-54, to close out 2013 Monday, which snapped a four-game winning streak. Lycoming opened the tournament with a 74-44 win over Anna Maria. Senior forward Julia Anotonelli leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 16.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, and is shooting a team-best 59 percent from the field. She also leads the team with 18 steals and is third on the team with 25 assists. Junior forward Ali Derr is second on the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game and is averaging 4.9 rebounds per contest.

ABOUT THE SERIES: Lycoming swept the season series a year ago, winning a 66-50 decision in Williamsport and a 67-49 decision in Glenside, extending the Warriors' winning streak to five games over the Knights. Arcadia's last win in the series was a 74-62 victory back on January 15, 2011 at Alumni Gymnasium.

NEXT UP: Arcadia will be back in action Wednesday when the Knights travel to Widener with a 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest. Lycoming also be back in action Wednesday when the Warriors travel to Messiah for an 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
