Women’s Basketball Falls at Stevenson, 62-42

Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team dropped a 62-42 Commonwealth Conference contest at Stevenson University Saturday afternoon, dropping its record to 8-9 overall and 2-8 in conference play. The Mustangs improved to 9-8 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
 
Junior guard Kayla Kelly (Ellicott City, Md.) scored 13 points with four assists, four steals and three rebounds for Stevenson, while fellow junior guard Kyrra Harmon (Waldorf, Md.) netted 12 points with seven boards and two blocks shots coming off the bench. Sophomore guard Caitlin Roy (Middletown, Md.) scored seven points and pulled down a game-high 11 boards.
 
Sophomore guard Maureen Fiocca (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 11 points with four rebounds for the Knights, while junior forward Victoria Roukas (Palisades Park, N.J.) tallied 10 points with three boards off the bench. Sophomore forward Valerie DiMuro (Tappan, N.Y.) chipped in with six points and eight boards, while senior Victoria Mazzeo (Langhorne, Pa.) pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.
 
The game was tied at 10 after Arcadia sophomore guard Samantha Caligiuri (West Grove, Pa.) sank a pair of free throws midway through the opening frame before the Mustangs went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good and outscoring the Knights 15-7 the rest of the period to take a 25-17 lead at the half.
 
The Mustangs blew the game open with an 18-3 to open a 49-27 advantage eight minutes into the second half and never looked back. Stevenson led by as many as 28 in the second half, 58-30 with 5:50 remaining.
 
Stevenson shot 41 percent (26-64) from the field while going 4-for-11 from three, while Arcadia shot 29 percent (14-49) from the field and was just 1-of-10 from downtown.
 
The Knights will return to action Wednesday when they host a 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest against Albright College at Alumni Gymnasium.
