Huge Second Half Give Men’s Basketball Team 74-66 Victory over Albright

Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team outscored visiting Albright College 46-33 in the second half to overcome a five-point halftime deficit and record a 74-66 victory Wednesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.
 
The Knights improved to 7-11 overall and 2-9 in Commonwealth Conference play with the win, while also snapping a six-game losing streak. The Lions fell to 10-8 overall and 6-5 in conference play with the loss.
 
Junior forward Joe Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored each of his team-leading 16 points in the second half for Arcadia, going 7-for-12 in the frame with a pair of threes. Sophomore guard John Landro (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y.) followed suit, netting each of 12 points in the second half.

Junior center Jose Figueroa (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 11 points with seven boards, while junior guard Torrell Candelaria (Philadelphia, Pa.) and sophomore forward Alex Cohen (Ridgewood, N.J.) netted 10 points each.
 
Senior forward Kyle Jordan (Bowie, Md.) scored a game-high 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field while pulling down a game-high nine boards to lead Albright. Senior guard/forward Pedro Perez (Bethlehem, Pa.) scored 15 points with seven boards and three assists, while freshman guard Sameen Swint (Sicklerville, N.J.) shipped in with 12 points.
 
Arcadia got off to a good start before slumping in the first half as the Lions built a 33-20 lead with 4:32 to go in the first half. The Knights then got back on track and closed the opening period with an eight-point run to pull back within five at the break, 33-28.
 
Albright led by six, 40-34, after Jordan's layup four minutes into the second half before Arcadia caught fire and outscored the Lions 21-6 over the next seven minutes to take a 55-46 lead.
 
The Lions managed to pull back within three after Jordan's layup with 1:46 left in the game cut the Knights' lead to 64-61, but Albright was forced to send the Knights to the line and Arcadia pulled away by making 10-of-11 free throws to close out the game and secure the win.
 
The Knights shot 61-percent (14-23) in the second half compared to shooting just 31 percent (10-32) in the first. Arcadia held an 18-9 advantage in second-chance scoring, and its bench outscored Albright's 30-6.
 
The Knights will next host a 3 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest against Hood College at Alumni Gymnasium.
