Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. – Junior forward
Victoria Roukas (Palisades Park, N.J.) scored a game-high 17 points but it was not enough as the Arcadia University women's basketball team dropped a 55-45 Commonwealth Conference contest at visiting Lycoming College Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.
The Warriors improved to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play with the win, while the Knights fell to 6-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play with the loss.
Roukas, who was 7-of-14 from the field and pulled down a team-best seven rebounds, was the lone Arcadia player to score in double figures. Sophomore guard
Mary Badeen (Newport, Maine) scored eight points with six rebounds and three assists coming off the bench, while fellow sophomore guard
Maureen Fiocca (Philadelphia, Pa.) with five boards and two assists.
Senior forward Julia Antonelli (Hanover, Pa.) posted a double-double with game-high totals of 15 points and 11 boards to lead Lycoming to the win. Junior forward Ali Derr (New Colombia, Pa.) netted 14 points with six boards, while sophomore guard Olivia Manges (York, Pa.) chipped in with 10 points and three assists.
Lycoming led 25-24 and the half and was clinging to a one-point advantage after Fiocca's layup seven minutes into the second half made it a 33-32 contest. The Warriors took control of the game from there, using a 9-1 run to open a 42-33 advantage with 9:15 to go and then using a 7-2 burst to take their biggest lead of the game, 55-40 with 1:13 left.
Arcadia's turnovers wound up being their undoing as the Knight lost the ball 28 times, resulting in 23 points for Lycoming. The Warriors committed just 11 turnovers in the game that led to only two Arcadia points.
The Knights will next travel to Widener Wednesday for a 6 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
