GRANTHAM, Pa. – Senior back
Katrina Dull scored the only goal of the match in the 30th-minute to give the Arcadia University field hockey team a 1-0 Commonwealth Conference victory at Messiah College Saturday, which entered the game ranked 16th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches' Poll.
The Knights' first-ever win over the Falcons improved their record to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in Commonwealth Conference games, and was their fourth win in a row. Messiah fell to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play with its second consecutive loss.
Dull scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season off a corner in the closing minutes of the first half. She inserted the ball to junior back
Taylor Dalisera, whose shot was stopped by senior goalkeeper Carly Day. Freshman forward
Amanda Hess then fed the rebound to Dull for the game-winner.
The Falcons dominated play in the second half, outshooting Arcadia 13-2 and taking seven of the eight corners in the frame, but were unable to beat the Knights defense or sophomore goalkeeper
Brittany Hodson, who registered seven of her nine saves in the period as she improved to 4-2 in goal this season.
The only time the ball got past Hodson was Messiah's first of the second half, but senior midfielder
Morgan Paese was there to record the defensive save on a shot taken by sophomore forward Moriah Pfautz.
The Knights will look for their fifth straight victory Wednesday when they host a 4 p.m. Commonwealth Conference match against Widener University at Easton Field.
