MAC Tournament Central

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The top-seeded Arcadia University field hockey team will host a Commonwealth Conference semifinal match against fourth-seeded Messiah College November 5 at 7 p.m. at Easton Field.

Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students, and children under six years of age are admitted free. Per conference policy, there will be no complimentary admission to the game.  Conference championship shirts will be available for $15.

All current Arcadia University students, faculty or staff member wishing to attend the game will have their admission paid for by the athletic department by presenting a valid University ID.

The winner of that match will face the winner of the other semifinal between second-seeded Alvernia University and third-seeded Lebanon Valley College. The highest reaming seed will host the championship match November 8 at a time to be determined.

The Knights secured the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament by going 6-1 in league play. This marks the first time since joining the Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) in 2007-08 that an Arcadia team has been the top seed in a Commonwealth Conference Championship. The women's lacrosse team was the first Knights' program to earn the No. 1 seed on either side of the MAC as it went on to win the 2014 Freedom Conference title, marking Arcadia's first conference tournament win in any sport since joining the MAC.

The Falcons, who are receiving votes in this week's National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches' Poll, tied for second in the conference standings with Alvernia and Lebanon Valley at 5-2, but fell to the fourth-seed based on the conference tie-breaking procedures.

Arcadia won the regular season meeting between the two teams with a 1-0 victory at Messiah October 18. Senior back Katrina Dull scored the only goal of the match for the Knights, while sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Hodson made nine saves. It was the Arcadia's first-ever win over the Falcons.
