ARLINGTON, Va.- The sixth-seeded Arcadia University women's volleyball team fell to third-seeded Marymount University in the programs first appearance in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinals Wednesday night by a score of 3-0.
The Knights struggled in the first set, losing 25-5, but they battled in the second and third sets, falling 25-23 and 25-21, respectively.
Arcadia was led by senior outside hitter
Natalie Cadmus' team-high nine kills and 12 digs. Cadmus finishes her season with 324 kills, which is the second-most in program history, and her 3.90 kills per set are the most in single-season history. She finishes her career with 532 kills, eighth-most in program history, and her 3.50 kills per set for her career rank first in team history.
Sophomore setter
Alexia Bell had a match-high 22 assists, along with six kills and six digs. Freshman libero
Sami Evans led the team with a match-high 16 digs.
The Saints (27-10) were led by junior middle hitter Morgan McAlpin, who had a match-high 11 kills and two errors on 21 attempts for a .429 kill percentage. Freshman setter Ashley Cabrera led Marymount with 16 assists, while senior libero Cassidie Watson led the Saints with 14 digs.
The Knights finished up the 2014 season with an overall record of 15-10, marking the program's first winning season since going 13-11 in 2009. Arcadia's 15 wins this season are the fifth-most in a singles season in program history; the program record of 19 wins was set in 2001 with the team went 19-10.
