Box Score OWINGS MILL, Md. – Top-seeded Stevenson University scored the only goal of the game in the 12th minute as the fourth-seeded Arcadia university women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the host Mustangs in the semifinal round of the 2014 Commonwealth Conference Championship Tournament.
Stevenson (10-5-4) will next host second-seeded and No. 1 ranked Messiah College in Saturday's conference title match, with the winner receiving the Commonwealth Conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.
The Knights (15-6) will await the selection of the NCAA tournament Sunday and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament Monday to see if their season will continue. Arcadia captured its first-ever ECAC Division III South title last season.
Sophomore Alexis Siejack put the Mustangs on the board 11:18 into the match, burying a shot off a rebound from the right wing for her sixth goal of the season. That proved to be all the offense Tiffany McKee would need as she stopped all three shots on goal she faced to earn the decision in net, improving her record to 8-2-2.
Senior keeper
Veronica Willig made five saves in taking the loss for the Knights, dropping her record to 14-6-0 this season.
Stevenson outshot Arcadia 16-8 in the match and had a 7-1 advantage on corner kicks.
