Men’s Basketball Drops 78-63 Decision at Alvernia

Box Score READING, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team dropped a 78-63 Commonwealth Conference contest at Alvernia University Wednesday night that dropped its record to 7-15 overall and 2-13 in conference play. The Crusaders, who had three 20-point scorers in the game, improved to 16-6 overall and 11-4 in conference play with the win.
 
Junior center Harrison Deyo (Phoenixville, Pa.) scored a game-high 25 points on 12-of-15 shooting from the field while pulling down 10 boards to lead Alvernia, while senior forward Brian Parker (Chichester, Pa.) poured inn 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and grabbed game-high 11 rebounds. Senior forward Kahlil Bennett (Old Bridge, N.J.) added 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 shooting from downtown.
 
Junior forward Joe Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field while draining each of his six three-pointers to lead the Knights. Junior guard Torrell Candelaria (Philadelphia, Pa.) also scored in double figures with 17 points.
 
The Crusaders shot 53 percent (28-53) from the field and outscored Arcadia 40-11 in the paint on their way to the win. The Knights shot just 36 percent (20-58) from the field on the night.
 
Alvernia never trailed in the game after opening the contest with a 13-0 run that Arcadia was never able to counter. The Knights manages to pull back within six after junior forward Khalil Curtis (Philadelphia, Pa.) sank a pair of free throws to make it 41-35 just over two minutes into the second half, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way.
 
Arcadia will next travel to Lycoming College Saturday for a 3 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
