Women's Basketball to Host "Day For David" Saturday, February 8

GLENSIDE, Pa. – On Saturday, February 8, the Arcadia University women's basketball team will host its third annual "Day for David" against Commonwealth Conference rival Messiah College at 1 p.m.  All funds raised that day will be donated to the St. Baldrick's Pediatric Cancer Foundation in honor of a very brave 10 year old boy, David Heard, who lost his battle with Neuroblastoma on February 10, 2011.

David's battle against cancer began in 2008, when he was diagnosed with stage IV Neuroblastoma, a rare and often deadly cancer of the nervous system that strikes some 750 children annually. David fought the disease hard, undergoing intense treatments and surgeries at five different hospitals, including St. Christopher's for Children, Hahnemann University, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. After six months of remission, David relapsed in July of 2010 and passed away seven months later.

David lived everyday full of zest and sparkle, leaving behind a legacy on this world to embrace life and never give up on your hopes and dreams.

Fans that donate at the game will receive a David Bracelet as well as a gold ribbon to show support against Pediatric Cancer. There is no donation too small—every cent helps!

Please join the Arcadia women's basketball team and together we can raise funds to help the St. Baldrick's Pediatric Cancer Foundation find a cure to end pediatric cancer.
