Baseball Falls to Penn State-Behrend in Florida, 6-2

Box Score FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Arcadia University baseball team fell to 1-4 for the season after dropping a 6-2 decision to Penn State-Behrend Monday afternoon in Fort Pierce, Florida. The Lions improved to 2-3 with the win.
 
The Lions never trailed in the game, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the third as junior Tommy Kocur (Erie, Pa.) led off the inning with a double and came around to score on sophomore Alex Margraf's (Erie, Pa.) single two batters later. That lead grew to 3-0 in the top of the sixth as junior Jordan Weinzierl (St. Mary's, Md.) singled to plate Margraf and scored two batters later on an RBI-single from junior Casey Kern (Monroeville, Pa.).
 
The Knights got on the board in the bottom of the sixth on senior Jay Zehring's (Manassas, Va.) RBI-single that drove in classmate Davis Jacobs (Havre de Grace, Md.), and sophomore Connor Arsenault (Medford, N.J.) cut Arcadia's deficit to one when he crossed the plate on freshman Justin Chasmar's (Barnegat, N.J.) ground out in the seventh.
 
Kern singled to lead off the top of the ninth and scored on freshman Brandon Bergstrom's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) double, and Bergstrom came around to score on a triple from Kocur. Sophomore Corey Bowers (Westlake, Ohio) then pushed Kocur across the plate as he grounded out to cap the scoring in the game.
 
Senior Chad Zurat (Clearfield, Pa.) earned the win on the mound for Behrend after going allowing two runs in six plus innings for the Lions. Senior Jordan Hofferman (Elkins Park, Pa.) took the loss for the Knights after allowing one run in five innings.
 
Arcadia will look to get the better of the Lions Tuesday when the two teams meet against at 10 a.m.
