Box Score Fort Pierce, Fla. – The Arcadia Knights Baseball team picked up its first win of the season by defeating the Hilbert College Hawks by a score of 10-2. It was Hilbert's first game of the season. With the win, the Knights improve to 1-3 while the Hawks fall to 0-1.
Arcadia bats were held silent through the first five innings, but then exploded for seven runs in the sixth. The Knights ended up batting around the lineup, producing the seven runs from five hits, two walks, and two hit batters.
Sophomore
Michael Nessel (Stuart, Fla.) led Arcadia at the plate by picking up three hits on the day, including two doubles, a walk, and two runs scored.
Senior
Jay Zehring (Manassas, Va.) also chipped in with a double, two walks and two runs scored.
Freshman pitcher
Connor Travis (Berlin, N.J.) entered the game in the sixth inning and was excellent in relief by tossing three perfect innings, including two strikeouts. Travis was credited with the win, which was the first of his collegiate career.
For Hilbert, starting pitcher Tyler Roth (Ottawa, Ontario) held the Knights scoreless through the first five innings but the Arcadia bats came alive to push Roth out of the game in the sixth, and he would end up suffering the loss.
Arcadia will be back in action tomorrow afternoon in Ft. Pierce against Penn. State-Behrend with first pitch scheduled for noon.
