Late goal sends women’s soccer team into consolation game at Haverford Kickoff Classic

Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to host Haverford College in the opening round of the 2014 Haverford Kickoff Classic. The Knights will next face the loser of the other opening round match between Eastern University and the University of Scranton Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
 
The lone goal of the contest was scored by Fords' senior forward Connie Friedman, who headed freshman forward/midfielder Krista Federici's cross from the left side into the upper left corner of the net with 9:49 remaining in the match.
 
The Knights pushed forward to get the equalizer in the closing minutes, but were unable to generate a quality scoring opportunity.
 
Senior keeper Robin Chernow totaled four saves in net to earn the shutout victory for Haverford, while fellow senior keeper Veronica Willig also had four stops in taking the loss for Arcadia.
 
The Fords outshot the Knights 10-5 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
