Wolfe’s three goals spark field hockey team in 4-1 win over Moravian

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Junior forward Debbie Wolfe scored each of her first three goals of the season to lead the Arcadia University field hockey team to a 4-1 non-conference victory over Moravian College Thursday night at Easton Field. The Knights improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Greyhounds fell to 2-1 with their first loss of the year.

Wolfe opened the scoring 14 minutes into the contest, tipping home a blast from the top of the circle from junior back Taylor Dalisera off a corner for her first goal of the season. She scored her second goal with just 25 seconds left in the first half, one-timing a pass from junior forward Tess Brzezynski to give the Knights a 2-1 lead at the break, and then capped the scoring with just 24 seconds left in the match with a shot from the far right of the circle that found its way inside the left post.

Freshman forward Amanda Hess accounted for the Knights' other goal in the match, tipping in a shot from Dalisera off a corner in the 56th-minute for her second goal of the season. Dalisera's two assists raised her total to three for the season.

The Greyhounds' lone goal of the match tied the score at 1-1 in the 22nd-minute when sophomore forward Kayla Rodrigues placed a pass from senior midfielder Catherine Duffin inside the left post for her first goal of the year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mia De Plato picked up her fourth straight win in goal for Arcadia, but saw her shutout streak come to an end at 232.44. She is now 4-1 on the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Kanyuk made nine saves in taking her first loss of the season for Moravian, dropping her record to 2-1.

It was a fairly even match in the first half, with the Knights holding a 6-4 advantage in shots and a 6-2 advantage in penalty corners. Arcadia dominated play in the second half, out shooting the Greyhounds 6-1 and taking all nine corners in the frame.

The Knights will look for their fifth straight win when they travel to Gettysburg College Saturday for a 1 p.m. non-conference match.
