Field hockey team drops 3-1 decision at Eastern

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team fell to 6-3 on the season following a 3-1 non-conference setback at Eastern University Tuesday. The Eagles evened their record at 4-4 with the win.
 
Junior back Megan Bolton scored the game-winning goal to break a 1-1 tie in the 20th-minute and give Eastern a 2-1 lead, and then added an insurance goal in the 42nd-minute for the 3-1 final. Sophomore midfielder Jess Kinzler opened the scoring in the match for the Eagles, scoring exactly two minutes into the contest.
 
The Knights lone goal of the match was scored by senior back Katrina Dull in the 18th-minute as she redirected a shot from junior forward/midfielder Debbie Wolfe inside the loft post. It was her team-leading fifth goal of the season.
 
Junior goalkeeper Jennifer O'Neill recorded four saves in the game to earn the win in goal for Eastern. Bolton also registered a defensive save in the match.  
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Mia De Plato allowed all three goals while making four saves in 42:42 for Arcadia as her record fell to 6-3. Fellow sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Hodson played the final 27:18, making two stops.
 
The Eagles had a 14-10 advantage in shots for the game, while Arcadia had a 12-9 advantage in penalty corners.
 
The Knights will return to action Saturday when they travel to Alvernia University for an 11 a.m. Commonwealth Conference match. It will be the first conference match of the season for both teams.
