Glanfield’s two goals give women’s soccer team 2-0 victory over Ursinus

Box Score GLENSIDE, Pa. - Sophomore forward/midfielder Jackie Glanfield scored her first two goals as a Knight to propel the Arcadia University women's soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference victory over visiting Ursinus College Wednesday night in a non-conference match at Easton Field. Both teams are now 1-1-0 for the season.

Glanfield's first tally came in the 63rd-minute as she fired a shot from some 30 yards out that was partially deflected by Bears' sophomore keeper Courtney Sullivan as it found its way into the upper right corner of the net.

Her second tally of the game came off a corner kick with just over 10 minutes to go. A scramble for the ball ensued after the ball was put in play by senior forward/midfielder Kim Canfield, before getting knocked home by Glanfield.

Senior keeper Veronica Willig stopped each of the three shots on goal she faced to earn her first shutout and victory in net this season. Sullivan had one stop while suffering her first loss of the year.

Arcadia had a 10-3 advantage in shots for the match and held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Knights will next host the Arcadia Fall Classic September 6-7 at Easton Field. The Knights will open the tournament Saturday against Juniata College at 1 p.m.
