Lennon Kramer tallied a hat trick in her first start of the season to lead the Arcadia University women's soccer team as they advanced to the championship match of the 2014 Arcadia Fall Classic with a 5-0 victory over Juniata College Saturday afternoon at Easton Field.
Kramer scored twice in the first 10 minutes to give Arcadia an early lead. Her first goal came at 4:28 as she headed in a corner kick from senior forward/midfielder
Kim Canfield past Eagles' freshman goalkeeper Kerry Leonard.
Her second tally came almost exactly three minutes later at 7:27 as Kramer stole the ball from an Eagle defender and kicked it to the lower left corner to make it 2-0 Arcadia. She went on complete the hat trick in the 63rd-minute, settling down a cross from Canfield and scoring in the top right corner for a 3-0 Arcadia advantage.
Freshman forward
Sarah Hanley added her first collegiate goal in the 72nd-minute off a lead pass from fellow freshman forward
Kayla Haberbosch. The assist was Haberbosch's first collegiate point, and she later added her first collegiate goal in the 79th-minute for the 5-0 final.
Senior goalkeeper
Veronica Willig earned the win after playing the first 71 minutes before being replaced by freshman
Natalie Toner as the two combined for the shutout. Willig made three saves, and Toner finished with two stops. Willig improved her record to 2-1-0, while Leonard took the loss after making five saves to fall to 0-3-0 on the season.
The Knights will next play in the championship match of the Arcadia Fall Classic Sunday at 4 p.m. against Rosemont College. The Ravens advanced to the championship game after defeating the DeSales Bulldogs 5-4 on penalty kicks after the two teams battled to a scoreless draw through 110 minutes. The 1 p.m. consolation game will be between DeSales and Juniata.
