Field Hockey Falls in Overtime at Albright, 2-1

READING, Pa. – The Arcadia University field hockey team fell in overtime at host Albright College Saturday in a MAC Commonwealth match, dropping its record to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Lions improved to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the MAC Commonwealth with the win.

Senior Debbie Wolfe gave Arcadia an early 1-0 advantage with her third goal of the season just 48 seconds after the opening whistle. She scored on a corner off a pass from classmate Tess Brzezynski after the initial shot by fellow senior Taylor Dalisera was blocked.

That 1-0 margin held up until 3:32 into the second half when Tracy Snyder scorer her 10th goal of the year to tie the match at 1-1. The game them went to overtime, where Kendra Delgado scored her first goal of the season in the 83rd-minute following Albright's fourth straight corner to end the game.

The Knights had a series of chances to put the game away in the last five minutes of regulation, being awarded to corners and getting three shots off, but were unable to find the back of the cage. Two of those shots were off target, while a bid by senior Rachel Longenecker was saves by Aileen Taylor in the final minute of the second half. Arcadia had the first corner of the extra frame, but Wolfe's shot from the top of the circle went wide.

Albright outshot Arcadia 27-12 in the match and had a 15-9 advantage on penalty corners. Taylor finished the game with five saves for the Lions to earn the decision in goal.

Junior Brittany Hodson totaled 15 saves in the match, while the Knights defenders totaled four defensive saves, including defensive saves on back-to-back shots by Dalisera midway through the second half. Freshman Molly Fait had a defensive stop in the first half, while classmate Kayla Brennan had a defensive save in overtime.

Arcadia will next travel to DeSales University Tuesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
