Box Score READING, Pa. – Sophomore
Jess Kelly scored 1:52 into the second overtime period to propel the Arcadia University women's team to a 2-1 MAC Commonwealth victory at Alvernia University Wednesday night, improving its record to 7-4-0 overall while evening its conference record at 1-1-0 for the season.
Johnna Shank scored her fourth goal of the season 10:29 into the match, depositing the ball inside the left post off Bailey Stover's corner kick to give the Crusaders (2-9-1, 0-1-0 MACC) an early 1-0 advantage.
Arcadia drew even eight minutes later as junior
Karis Poore launched a shot from the right wing and placed it inside the far post for her third goal of the season. The score would remain knotted at one-all until Kelly scored her second goal of the season 1:52 into the second extra frame. Freshman
Ghil Joseph crossed the ball to Kelly at the left post and all she had to do was place the ball into the open net to send the Knights home with the win.
The match was not as close as the 2-1 final might indicate as Arcadia out shot Alvernia 30-6 in the contest and had a 9-2 advantage on corners.
Freshman
Evelyn Feigeles totaled two saves in picking up the win in goal for the Knights, improving her record to 7-4-0 for the season. Jessica Plunkett recorded seven saves while taking the loss for the Crusaders, dropping her record to 2-7-1.
Arcadia will look to make it two wins in a row Saturday when the Knights host a 2 p.m. MAC Commonwealth match against Lycoming College at Easton Field as part of Homecoming Weekend.
