GLENSIDE, Pa. – The fourth-seeded Arcadia University men's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end Wednesday afternoon at Easton Field after dropping a 2-1 decision to fifth-seeded Grove City College in the quarterfinal round of the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Championship Tournament.
The Knights fell behind early as Blake Baer tallied the game's first goal on a header off a corner from Tim Shackleton in the 11
th minute. Using an 11-6 shot advantasge, the visiting Wolverines held the Scarlet and Grey off the board for the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper
Chris Watson made seven saves in the stanza.
Bradley McKim's 16
th goal of the season got the Knights back in the contest in the 71
st minute. The First-Team All-MAC Commonwealth selection finished a cross from senior
David Colombo from the right side.
For the next 12 minutes the score remained 1-1, until Grove City's Frank Hueber launched a shot 30 yards out from the right sideline to the upper left 90 of the cage for what proved to be the game-winner.
Watson made a career high 13 saves in the loss, while Ben Weaver picks up the win after making two saves.
The Wolverines improved to 12-6-1 for the year, and will next face top-seeded Penn State-Behrend in this weekend's semifinals. The Knights, who were making their first ECAC tournament appearance in program history, ended the year at 11-7-3.
