SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Arcadia University women's basketball team suffered a 61-55 setback at the hands of Western New England Tuesday afternoon as it played its first of two games in the San Juan Shootout.  Junior 
Imani Alston led the Knights with a career-high 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting; she also tied a season-high with seven rebounds. The loss drops the Knights to 5-5 on the season as they look to rebound tomorrow when they take on Division II Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras at noon. 
After surrendering the game's first bucket, the Scarlet and Grey got on the board just over a minute and a half in courtesy of a Dominque Hassinger jumper before 
Olivia Roseman gave Arcadia its first lead following a pair of free throws just over two minutes in. A three by Dorothy O'Neill put the Golden Bears back up one at on the next possession before Alston retaliated with a jumper to reclaim a one-point lead at 6-5. Buckets by Roseman and 
Addy Crenny sandwiched a layup from Western New England, Crenny's jumper brought the score to 10-7 with five and a half minutes left in the opening frame. The Golden Bears used three consecutive three pointers to jump to a 16-10 advantage before ending the first quarter with a 20-16 lead. 
Arcadia trailed by as many as eight in the early portion of the second frame, however that would soon change. Crenny completed the three-point play following a layup to pull the score to a 26-21 deficit with seven and a half minutes to go until the break. The play opened a 10-0 spurt for the Scarlet and Grey that lasted until the 1:58 mark of the second quarter. 
Valerie DiMuro converted back-to-back layups to pull the Knights within one before Roseman nailed a three with 1:58 to go to put the Knights up 28-26; the Golden Bears converted a pair of free throws to send the game to the half deadlocked at 28. 
Crenny and Roseman led the Knights' offense with seven points each, while DiMuro led the way on the glass with a half-best five rebounds. As a team Arcadia shot 42.3% from the field and converted all five free throw attempts. A 12 point performance from Western New England's Emily Anderson led all scorers on 4 of 5 shooting with all her attempts coming from three-point land. The Golden Bears shot 43.5% as a team in the half. 
Alston scored the Knights first six points of the third quarter to help the Knights to a 34-34 tie after the first three minutes of the period. The see-saw action continued as the Golden Bears scored the next five points before the Knights responded with the following three for a 39-38 score in favor of Western New England with 4:26 to go in the period. Hassinger ended the frame with a buzzer beating three to send the game to the fourth quarter with the Knights trailing 45-43.
Hassinger and Crenny combined for the first four points of the fourth quarter to vault the Knights to a 46-45 lead just over four minutes into the frame. The Golden Bears responded with the next five points, capped by an Anderson three to jump to a 50-46 advantage with three and a half minutes to go. Roseman tied the game at 51 with a three with 2:01 on the clock only to be answered by a Golden Bear layup on the next possession. Crenny knotted the game at 53 with a layup with 1:19 left; that score went on to hold sending the game to an extra session. 
Alston led all scorers with nine points in the second half on 4 of 5 shooting. The Knights shot 42.3% as a team in the frame compared to a 40% performance by the Golden Bears. 
The Knights scored the first two points of the overtime period on free throws from Hassinger and 
Camille Menns, but that would be all as the Golden Bears ended the period on an 8-0 run for the win. 
Alston's 15 points led four Knights in double figures as Crenny added 11 while Hassinger and Roseman each registered 10. DiMuro and Menns led the team with eight rebounds each. The Knights shot 39.3% from the field as a team. 
Anderson scored a game-high 24 for the Golden Bears on 8 of 16 shooting, including 6 of 9 from three point range, while leading all rebounders with nine. The Golden Bears shot 40.7% from the field, while converting 40% of their three-point attempts. 
The Knights wrap up their competition in San Juan tomorrow when they take on Division II Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras at noon.
