Balanced Attack Leads Women’s Lacrosse Team Past Delaware Valley, 16-5

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team had nine different goal scorers in its 16-5 non-conference victory over Delaware Valley University Thursday afternoon at Easton Field. The Knights improved to 5-1 for the season, while the Aggies, who are in their first varsity season, fell to 1-4.
 
Senior Sam Sidoriak and freshman Nicole Hutson scored three goals each for Arcadia. Sidoriak also added an assist for a career-high four points. Junior Dawn Faranetta scored two goals with a game-high four assists for a game-high six points in the game, while senior Haylee Molloy and freshman Allegra Benites added two goals each.
 
Freshman Liz Stierle recorded a pair of saves with five goals against in 44:02 to earn the first win of her collegiate career. Junior Jordyn Dunacusky got the start and didn't see a shot as the Knights opened a 5-0 lead 10:35 into the game, while sophomore Brittany Hodson stopped the only shot on goal she faced in the final 5:23.
 
Freshman Graeleigh Lackey scored three times to lead DelVal, while sophomore Nicollette Algelella added two goals with one assist. Freshman Sarah Fenwick had just five saves in goal as her record fell to 1-4.
 
The Knights opened the game with a 9-0 run and never looked back, which started with Hutson's first goal of the game just 1:46 into the contest and was capped by her third tally with 16:04 remaining in the first half. Lackey got the Aggies on the board with 12:06 left in the opening frame before the Knights closed the period with a four-goal run to take a commanding 13-1 lead at the half. Junior Jessica Santoli started that run just 14 seconds after Lackey's goal, while Benites capped the first half scoring with a pair of goals in a span of 2:14.

Juniors Adeline Bellesheim and Jessica Santoli also got into the scoring act in the first half with one goal apiece. Bellesheim added a pair of assists in the game, raising her team-leading point total to 27, which matches her career-high total of 27 points set last season. 
 
Delaware Valley outscored Arcadia 4-3 in the second half, which saw the Knights dominate in time of possession with the running clock. Sidoriak scored her third goal of the game with 12:37 left in the second half, which also saw seniors Catherine Brown and Kathleen Finnegan find the back of the net.
 
Arcadia will be back in action next Thursday, March 19, when it hosts a 4 p.m. non-conference match against Rutgers-Camden.
