MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Arcadia University baseball team was finally able to play its first game of the 2015 season, and wasted little time getting into the win column as it posted a 13-0 win over the University of Valley Forge at the Ripken Experience. The game lasted just six innings due to time constraints.
The Knights got on the board with a four-run second inning, which proved to be more than enough runs to record the victory. Senior
Justin Simpson stole second and third before crossing the plate on junior
George Pagan's RBI-single. Senior
Tom Wagner then drove in sophomore
Justin Chasmar and Pagan with a two-RBI single. Junior
Nick Todero capped the scoring in the frame after reaching on a fielder's choice and coming around to score on classmate
Michael Nessel's double.
That lead grew to 7-0 the following inning as Simpson drove sophomores
Michael Ferrence and
Jordan Draude with a double before touching home on Wagner's two-out RBI single three batters later. The Knights tacked on two more runs in the fourth on senior
Dan Shiramizu's sac-fly and an RBI-single off the bat of Todero.
Arcadia was able to load the bases with two outs in the top of the sixth as it pushed across four more runs for the 13-0 final. Chasmar drove in junior
Steven Zellers and freshman
Nick Cardace with a double and then scored behind Chasmar on Pagan's two-RBI single.
