Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Arcadia University baseball team improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Commonwealth Conference play after sweeping a doubleheader against Hood College Saturday by scores of 27-13 and 14-4 at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach. The Blazers are now 3-4 for the season and 0-3 in conference games.

The Knights pushed 10 runs across the plate in the top of the first in game one, but Hood battled back and pulled with two through four innings of play, 13-11. The Blazers had a pair of big innings in their comeback attempt, scoring four times in the second and five times in the third.

Senior
Justin Simpson drove a 1-1 offering over the left field fence that also scored sophomore
Jordan Draude with what proved to be the game-winning run in the top of the fifth. Arcadia then pulled away with a six-run sixth inning and put the game away with six more runs in the seventh for the 27-13 final.

Simpson was 3 for 5 in the game with four RBI and three runs scored, while sophomore
Justin Chasmar finished the game 4 for 7 with a double, two triples, five RBI and three runs scored. Junior
Nick Todero went 4 for 5 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored. Senior
Tom Wagner was the only player to go hitless in the game, but drew three walks and scored three runs before being replaced by junior
Steven Zellers in the lineup, who went 2 for 2 with two RBI and a run scored.

Sophomore
Connor Travis earned the decision after allowing two runs in 1.1 innings of relief, while freshman
Connor Laigiae picked up the save after allowing a pair of runs over the final three innings of the contest.

Freshman Josh Gall was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI for the Blazers, while classmate Cameron Esposito went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth. Fellow freshman Ryan Atkinson took the loss after allowing nine of Arcadia's 10 runs in the first while recording just one out.

Hood staked itself to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, loading the bases with two outs before freshman Justin Cosing drove a bases-clearing double to left, giving the Blazers their first lead in two-plus games against the Knights. Arcadia answered right away with two runs in the top of the second as Draude scored from third on a double steal and Zellers drove in Chasmar from second with a double to right.

Freshman Brooks Warrenfeltz drove in classmate Tyler Cook with a double to right in the bottom of the second to extend Hood's lead to 4-2, but it was all Arcadia the rest of the way as the Knights scored 12 unanswered runs to secure the win.

Arcadia tied the game on junior
George Pagan's RBI single to right in the top of the fourth that scored Zellers from second and Nessel scored the game-winning run in the top of the fifth on Draude's infield single. The Knights put the game away with a seven-run sixth, which included back-to-back bases loaded singles from Yiantsos and Draude before Charmar played a pair of runs with a single to center. Draude drove in two more runs in the seventh and final inning with his second double of the game.

Draude went 3 for 4 with four RBI and two runs scored, while Chasmar finished the game 3 for 4 with three runs scored and three runs driven in. Senior
Jason Goldberg earned the decision on the mound after allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings, while Simpson tossed a scoreless sixth and seventh to close out the game.

Warrenfeltz finished 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, while Cosing was 1 for 3 with a double and three RBI. Freshman Andrew Catone took the loss after giving up 10 runs in 5.1 innings.

The Knights will be back in action Sunday with a doubleheader against SUNY Canton at the Ripken Experience. Game one is schedule to start at 9 a.m.
