Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Arcadia University baseball team closed out its trip to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach with a 12-7 victory over NCAA Division II Benedict College Wednesday, improving its record to 6-1 for the season. The Tigers fell to 6-12 with the loss.

The Knights trailed 7-6 after Benedict put four runs on the board in the top of the fifth. The Tigers tied the game on freshman Shomarii Thomas' bases-loaded single to left that scored two runs and going ahead when senior Micahel Dixon scored from third on a double steal.

Arcadia regained the lead for good in the bottom half of the frame. Freshman Drew Coisson scored on senior Tom Wagner's single to left to knot the score at 7-7 and junior George Pagan scored from third as junior Nick Todero grounded into a double play to put the Knights up 8-7. Arcadia then pulled away with a four-run eighth, which included junior Michael Nessel driving in Todero with a double to left and later scoring on an error after stealing third. Two more runs scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch later in the inning.

Nessel finished 3 for 4 on the day with one double, two runs scored and another driven in, while Todero went 2 for 3 with a double and scored three times. Wagner was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI from the leadoff spot.

Both teams ran through the bullpen in the game. Freshman Connor Laigiae earned the decision after allowing two runs over three innings for his first career victory. Sophomore Angel Perez took the loss after giving up four runs (three earned) over three innings.

The Knights will next open a three-game Commonwealth Conference series with Widener University Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Chester. Arcadia will then host a doubleheader against the Pride Saturday at Erny Field.
