Men’s Lacrosse Falters in Fourth Quarter, Drops 11-4 Decision at Albright

READING, Pa. – Host Albright College scored all seven fourth quarter goals as it recorded an 11-4 win over the Arcadia University men's lacrosse team Wednesday night in a Commonwealth Conference contest. The Lions improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the win, while the Knights' record fell to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in league action.

The game was tied at one after freshman Sean McDonald scored a man-up goal off a feed from classmate Ryan Green with 5:44 left in the opening period, and sophomore Joe Stanton scored the first of his two goals 1:42 into the second quarter off a pass from McDonald to give Arcadia a 2-1 lead. Senior Ryan Turner answered with a man-up goal to tie the game at 2-2 midway through the second quarter, and the score held until he scored again 3:09 into the third quarter to put Albright up 3-2.

Freshman Danny Riley cashed in on a man-up opportunity with 5:17 left in the third off a feed from Stanton to tie the game at 3-3, and Stanton answered a goal sophomore Cam Centrone's tally with 1:23 left in the frame to knot the score at 4-4.

Centrone scored the second of his three goals just 49 seconds into the fourth and final period, which started a seven-goal run by the Lions to close out the game. That run really got going when Turner scored twice in a span of 1:31 to open a 7-4 lead for the Lions, who scored six times in the final nine minutes of the contest.

Senior Nicholas Pisko had seven saves between the pipes for Albright. Freshman A.J. Beck totaled nine stops while taking the loss in goal for the Knights.

Albright had a 46-21 advantage in shots thanks to a 13-3 edge in the first quarter and a 17-5 margin in the fourth. Shots were even at seven in the second quarter, while the Lions outshot Arcadia 9-6 in the third. Albright had a 33-17 advantage on ground balls, while Arcadia won 13 of 22 faceoffs in the game.

The Knights will return to action Saturday when they host a non-conference contest against Neumann University.
