Philadelphia, Pa. – The Arcadia University baseball team dropped both ends of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader to visiting Stevenson University on Military Appreciation Day at Erny Field. The Knights and Arcadia Student Veterans Group raised money through concessions sales and the auctioning of the one-of-a kind jerseys work by Arcadia that will be donated to charities that support U.S. war veterans.
Stevenson struck early, scoring one run in the top of the first inning off a sacrifice fly to left field from junior Nick Peifer that scored classmate Ian Eberly from third. The game was a tight match-up from there, featuring tough pitching and great defense until the top of the fourth when Mustangs pushed two runs across the plate off a single through the right side from senior Troy Miller and a single from junior Craig Joseph that squeaked through the left side.
The Mustangs led 4-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, where the Knights' bats finally came to life as Arcadia scored three times to pull back within one. There were runners on first and second for senior Tony Yiantsos, who started the scoring parade with double to left field, driving in freshman
Pat Shevlin with the Knights' first run of the game and sending junior
George Pagan to third.

Tom Wagner followed by lifting a sacrifice fly to left that allowed Pagan to score, and junior
Nick Todero stroked a double to center field to score Yiantsos and cut the deficit to 4-3. Junior Trevor Fitzsimmons then entered the game for Stevenson, and recorded two quick outs to end Arcadia's rally.
The Mustangs then exploded for six runs in the top of the seventh and final inning, scoring twice on a Myers' single to and a triple off the bat of _ senior Troy Miller. Arcadia managed to get two of those runs back with just one out in the frame, but freshman
Drew Coisson and Todero both flied out to end the threat and the game.
Junior Alec Romanowski picked up the win on the hill to improve his record to 3-2 after allowing three runs on three hits and a walk in 5.1 innings of work, while Fitzsimmons earned his third save of the season after recording the final five outs. Senior
Jason Goldberg suffered his first loss of 2015, falling to 3-1 after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks in 5.1 innings.
Game-two was tied at 1-1 at the end of the first inning, which saw Stevenson score on a sac fly and Arcadia score off of Todero's ground out that allowed Yiantsos to score. The Mustangs took the lead of good with a three-run third before putting the game away with a seven-run seventh.
Freshman Dan Williams picked up the win on the mound after allowing just two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings before giving way to junior Reid Foxwell, who allowed just one hit over the final two innings. Sophomore
Jake Lloyd took the loss for Arcadia after giving up four runs (two earned) on one hit and five walks over three innings.
The Knights will look to bounce back quickly as they host a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader against Widener University Sunday.
