Men’s Lacrosse Drops 2015 Finale at Messiah, 14-6

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-6 Commonwealth Conference matchup and Messiah College Saturday to close out the 2015 season, its first under head coach Nick Taylor and its first in the league. The Falcons improved to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play with the win, while the Knights record fell to 5-10 overall and 2-6 in league play.

The game was scoreless through most of the opening frame before Tyler Goglio started a five-goal Messiah run with 3:52 remaining in the first quarter that gave the Falcons the lead for good in the game. Blake Knobloch capped the first quarter scoring with seven seconds to go, putting Messiah up 4-0, and Ryan Mayer capped the run 2:11 into the second quarter.

Freshman Danny Riley got Arcadia on the board with a man-up goal midway through the second before back-to-back goals from classmate Sean McDonald brought the Knights back within two at the half at 5-3. Freshman Ryan Green setup McDonald's first goal and sophomore Kenny Grant setup the second.

Will Franklin scored each of the first two goal of the third quarter to put Messiah ahead 7-3 before Riley found the back of the net for his second man-up goal of the game with 1:44 left in the period. Green then opened the fourth quarter scoring with a man-up goal just 40 seconds into the period to cut the Knights' deficit to 7-5, but it was all Messiah from there as Knobloch started a seven-goal run for the Falcons that put the game away.

Green and McDonald both finished with two goals and one assist for Arcadia. Riley's two goals raised his program-record point total to 45 for the season, while his 31 goals fell just one shy of matching Chris Jacovino's record of 32 goals scored in 2013.
