LA PLUME, Pa. – The Arcadia University baseball team dropped a 21-5 non-conference decision at Keystone College Sunday, dropping its record to 17-13-1 on the season. The Giants improved to 25-11 with their seventh consecutive win.
Arcadia took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second as junior
Connor Arsenault singled through the left side before eventually scoring on a bases-loaded walk drawn by freshman
Pat Shevlin. That lead didn't last long though, as Keystone scored on an error and an RBI-double off the bat of Joe Angelucci.
The Giant lead grew to 5-1 in the bottom of the third, which included a pair of runs scoring on Nate Ross' bases-loaded single through the right side, before they pulled away by scoring four times in the fourth and six times in the fifth to open a commanding 15-1 lead.
Sophomore
Michael Ferrence scored on a passed ball after leading off the top of the sixth with a double to the gap in left-center, while sophomore
Austin Eppenstein drove in two runs with his double the left-center before scoring on Shevlin's single to right in the eighth.
Arsenault finished 3 for 5 with a double and two runs scored, while Eppenstein was 1 for 3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in addition to draw a pair of walks in the game. Ferrence took the loss on the hill after giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits and four walks over 2.2 innings.
The Knights will next travel to Penn State Abington Tuesday for a non-conference contest.
