Lebanon Valley Pulls Away Late to Defeat Women’s Lacrosse Team, 15-7

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley College closed the game with a four-goal run over the final 4:35 as the visiting Dutchmen defeated the Arcadia University women's lacrosse team Wednesday night in a Commonwealth Conference contest at Easton Field. LebVal improved to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in in conference play with the win, while the Knights fell to 9-3 overall and 2-2 in league action.

The Dutchmen never trailed in the game, using a five-goal run in the first half to go ahead for good in the game. Sophomore Erin Misner broke up that string with 41 seconds left in the first half to make it 6-2 at the break.

The teams exchanged goals through the opening 10 minutes of the second half before a three-goal surge that was capped by senior Jenny Simensky's second goal of the game gave LVC an 11-4 lead with 13:35 left in the game. Arcadia answered with a three-goal run of its own, pulling back within four on senior Haylee Molloy's tally with 5:32 remaining, but that was as close as the Knights would get as senior Anna Pagels scored a minute later to start a four-goal Dutchmen run to close the game.

Bailey Benz scored three goals with four assists for a game-high seven points to lead Lebanon Valley to the win, while Junior Tori Kuntz scored a game-high four goals in the game. Fellow junior Sam Boyce and Simensky finished with three goals each, while classmate Shelby Morris totaled nine saves to earn the decision in goal.

Junior Adeline Bellesheim scored three goals to lead the Knights, while Misner, Molloy, junior Dawn Faranetta and freshman Nicole Hutson each added one goal and one assist. Junior Jordyn Dunacusky had eight saves as her record fell to 8-3 on the season.

Lebanon Valley outshot Arcadia 30-21 thanks to a 16-8 advantage in the first half while holding a slight edge in draw controls (19-15) and ground balls (14-10).

Arcadia will next travel to Stevenson University Saturday for a 1 p.m. Commonwealth Conference contest.
