Kramer Heads Women's Soccer to 2OT Win

Knights pick up fifth win

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Arcadia women's soccer team picked up its third straight victory, and fifth of the season, in a 2-1 double overtime win at Wilkes on Saturday afternoon. Lennon Kramer headed the game winning goal in the 109th minute.

The Colonels scored first in the 29th minute when Grace Fazzi scored on a high ball following a battle in front of the net. With the exception of that goal, the game was dominated by the Knights. Kristen Carrete finished off a late push by the Scarlet and Grey as she buried a feed from Jackie Glanfield to end a stretch where the Knights put three balls on target in a minute and a half.

Offensive pressure in the second half was completed by a defense that would not bend. The same would be true through both overtime periods.

The 109th minute was a very strong one for the Scarlet and GreyGlanfield and Jess Kelly each fired shot that got blocked away, however Kelly's drew a corner kick. With 71 ticks remaining Kelly set the kick up to find the head of Kramer who beat the keeper high to secure the win.

"A great goal by Lennon Kramer from Jess Kelly. The entire defense played fantastic against a fast, strong, and physical Wilkes squad," texted head coach Rick Brownell. "Melia Ochsner, Caitlin Liscinski, Stephanie Maggio, Veronica Pontis and Alyssa Ferraro all played great, and a top effort from Jackie Glanfield in the middle".

The offense once again put up double digit total shots (21) and shots on goal (10), while the defense held the opposition to a very low shot total (2).

The Scarlet and Grey are outscoring their opponents 8-1 over the three game win streak with a 77-7 advantage in shots. Kramer has five goals in the span, with a pair from Carrete and one from Kayla Haberbosch. Strong ball distribution has lead to a half dozen players dishing out a helper, with Kelly handing out two.

The Knights continue a three game road trip on Wednesday when they travel to Doylestown to take on Delaware Valley in a 7 p.m. tilt.
