GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday night with a 1-0 triumph over Neumann. Freshman
Philip Brown netted the games only goal in the closing seconds of the first half.
After entering the game in the 41st minute, Brown broke through the defense for a near point blank shot that was saved; however in a true example of never giving up on a play the frosh collected the rebound to beat a sprawling keeper with just 14 ticks remaining in the opening stanza.
Rookie
Ryan Hammer had a brilliant opportunity in the mid portion of the first half as he floated a bomb over the hands of of the leaping keeper from about 30 yards out, only to hit the crossbar.
Sophomore
Chris Watson made nine saves to complete the shutout to pick up the win.
The Scarlet and Grey outshot the visitors 18-13, including 12-7 in the first 45 minutes.
Arcadia hits the road this weekend as the Knights take on Misericordia in a 7:30 p.m. contest. They will return home next Wednesday to host Ramapo in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
