READING, Pa. - Behind rookie
Josh Scott's double-double, which came on a near perfect night, the Arcadia University men's basketball team picked up a 69-61 win at Alvernia Wednesday. Scott tallied a game-high 22 points on 10 of 11 shooting with a game-best 11 rebounds. The Knights move to 10-4 on the season, including a 4-2 conference mark, while the Crusaders fall to 7-8 overall with a 3-3 conference record.

Josh Scott got the Knights on the board with a jumper just under two minutes in before converting a pair of free throws to tie the game with 2:15 into the game. Shooting from distance became a factor early as the teams combined for five straight threes over a 3:25 span in which the Crusaders came away with a 13-10 lead. Scott and
Kyle Reilly converted back-to-back jumpers to put Arcadia up 14-13.
Following a 7-3 Crusader run,
Ryan Kelley sparked an 8-0 Knight run with a three at the 9:21 mark before
John Landro capped the run with a three of his own to propel Arcadia to a 25-20 lead with 7:53 to go. Each team scored 17 points to end the half with the Knights gaining a lead of as many as seven on two occasions, the last coming on a
Dimitri Harper layup with 31 ticks left in the half; Arcadia led 42-37 at the break.
Scott tied for the most points in the half with 12 on 5 of 6 shooting, with Landro (3 of 5) and Kelley (3 of 4) each adding eight. The Knights shot 56.7$ from the field as a team, including 6 of 9 from beyond the arc. On the defensive end, Arcadia held Alvernia to 40.7% shooting, including 7 of 17 from distance. The Crusaders were led by Alex Shippen with 12 points, along with Charles Cooper with 10.
Neither team gained control of the second half over the first four minutes of the frame. It would be Alvernia that put together the first run of seven points starting with back-to-back Marquis Marshall jumpers and capped by a Shippen three to lift the Crusaders to a 52-50 advantage with 14:28 to go. The Knights used a 13-4 run over the game's final 10 minutes highlighted by a Landro three to open a 65-59 lead with 3:33 to go to seal the win.
The Knights shot 52.8% from the field in the contest, including 7 of 15 from beyond the arc, while holding the Crusaders to 34.4% shooting. Landro and Kelley joined Scott in double-figures for the Knights. Shippen finished with 18 points to lead Alvernia.
Arcadia returns home to host Albright on Saturday in a MAC Commonwealth showdown at 3 p.m.
