Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls at Home to Neumann, 3-1

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Freshman Andera Ahern scored the first goal of her collegiate career for the Arcadia University field hockey team, but it was not enough as the Knights fell to Neumann University Thursday evening at Easton Field. Neumann improved to 9-5, while Arcadia fell to 4-11.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Becky Guinto scored from the top of the circle off a corner just 2:29 into the match to put Neumann out in front for good, and Julia Mustin scored the eventual difference-maker at the 10:19 mark. Chelsea Kulesza added an insurance goal in the 69th-minute for the 3-1 final.

Arcadia pulled back within one on Ahern's first collegiate tally in the 27th-minute off a corner. Sophomroe Gabby Sedares lifted the ball towards the cage, and it was initially tipped by senior Allie Hines before Ahern finished the play to make it a 2-1 contest.

IN GOAL: Caitlyn Johnson registered two saves while improving her record to 9-5 this season. Senior Brittany Hodson took the loss for Arcadia after totaling 12 saves, one of which was on a Guinto penalty stroke in the second half, and allowing two goals; freshman Anne Becker got the start but was replaced following Neumann's first goal.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Shots were even at eight in the first half, but Neumann took all nine shots in the second. The Knights had a 7-1 advantage on penalty corners in the first half, while Neumann had a 6-1 second half advantage.
