DALLAS, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's swimming team moved to 3-0 on the young season with a pair of wins Saturday afternoon. The Knights took down FDU-Florham 218-27 while defeating Misericordia 182-76.
RELAYS: The day started and ended with a pair of first place relay finishes. Freshmen
Eunice Ardamoy and
Kayla Drago teamed with sophomores
Samantha Carpenter and
Taylor Byers for the top time of 1:52.91 in the 200-yard medley relay to start the day. Drago and classmates
Megan Hupp and
Rachel Samson combined with Carpenter to take the top spot in the 400-yard freestyle relay to cap the day with a time of 3:47.92. Ardamoy anchored a team that consisted of classmate
Bailey Babarsky and seniors
Megan Obarowski and Anna Sweeny to take third in the latter event with a time of 3:56.77.
BACKSTROKE: The Knights garnered a pair of one-two finishes in the backstroke events. Ardamoy claimed the top spot in the 100-yard race with a time of 1:03.97 ahead of junior
Rose Georgias' second-place time of 1:05.49. Carpenter claimed first place in the 200-yard event at 2:16.18 ahead of Samson's 2:21.75 in second place.
BREASTSTROKE: The 100-yard breaststroke also saw a win for Carpenter as she paced the field with a time of 1:09.69. Babarsky followed with a third place finish by touching the wall at 1:13.44. Sophomore
Taylor Byers completed the 200-yard event in 2:38.74 for a second place finish.
BUTTERFLY: A one-two-three finish came for the Knights in the 100-yard butterfly led by Drago's 1:03.21. Senior
Megan Obarowski touched the wall just 0.19 seconds later at 1:03.40 in second place before freshman
Bekah Brown finished at 1:06.37. Obarowski claimed the top spot in the 200-yard event earlier in the day with a 2:19.77. Junior
Danielle Fundakowski posted a third place finish in the event at 2:28.96.
FREESTYLE: Hupp set the pace in both distance events as she led a one-two-three finish in the 1000-yard race at 10:59.73. Brown claimed second place with a time of 11:42.02 ahead of sophomore
Caroline Patterson in third place at 11:50.68. Hupp then led a one-two finish in the 500-yard event at 5:22.96 with sophomore
Alyssa D'Esposito finishing second at 5:38.82. Babarsky's 5:40.79 in fourth place was just 0.44 seconds back from third.
Success also came for Hupp in the 200-yard race as she took the top spot in 2:00.99. Sweeny touched the wall in third place at 2:07.42 in the same event. Arcadia finished two-three-four less than a second apart in the 50-yard sprint led by Byers' 26.69. Senior
Lillie Curtis placed third at 27.42 with freshman
Jackie McDowell taking fourth at 27.50. Drago and Ardamoy went back to work in the 100-yard event as they combined for a one-two finish led by the former's 56.02 with the latter touching the wall at 58.37.
INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY: Samson and Byers closed out the individual events in the 200-yard individual medley. Samson took second with a time of 2:21.10 with Byers finishing in third at 2:26.28.
UP NEXT: Arcadia gets back to dual meet action next Saturday when it travels to Albright for a 1 p.m. meet.
