ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's basketball team ended the fall semester on a four-game winning streak following a 91-82 victory at Rosemont Saturday afternoon. The win moved the Knights to 5-4 on the season, while the Ravens fell to 3-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights took control early, opening the game on a 13-4 run fueled by 6-12 shooting as a team and four points from both sophomore
Evan Slone and junior
Brandon Thompson. In what was a back-and-forth next three minutes, Arcadia saw its lead extend to 25-12 at the midway point of the opening half courtesy of a Thompson layup. After a retaliatory 8-3 run to pull the hosts within seven, Arcadia went 5-6 from the floor of the half's final 5:57 and, led by senior
Ryan Kelley's five points, ended the frame on a 13-10 spurt to take a 40-30 lead to halftime.
The Knights quickly established control again early in the second half as, after the Ravens scored the first four points, a 6-9 shooting performance that included going 4-6 from distance helped the Knights jump out to a game-high 22-point lead at 60-38 with 12:32 to go. Thompson netted seven points over the span with sophomore
Josh Scott contributing six. That margin was cut in half with just over six minutes to go following the ensuing 21-10 run by Rosemont, however the comeback attempt fell short as the Ravens wouldn't come any closer than within nine the rest of the way.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Thompson dropped a game-high 23 points on 7-12 shooting and a 6-6 showing at the charity stripe. Slone followed with 22 points and a team-leading six rebounds.
Ryan Kelley netted 17 points on 6-7 shooting while leading all players with seven assists.
ROSEMONT LEADERS: Jamier Hughes led Rosemont with a double-double as he netted 19 points and pulled in a game-high 12 rebounds. Andrew Michaels went 8-10 from the field in posting 18 points. Kyle Lafferty added 16 points.
