GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team fell to Lycoming 50-49 Saturday afternoon in Alumni Gymnasium. Senior
Addy Crenny led the way for the Arcadia as Crenny tied a game-high with 13 points while dominating the glass with 19 rebounds. The loss drops the Knights to 8-13 on the season and 3-9 in conference play, Lycoming moves to 13-9 and 7-5 in the MAC Commonwealth. The Scarlet and Grey came out with high energy following Senior Day festivities, using an 8-0 run that began with a DiMuro layup with 4:56 to go in the opening period to take a 15-10 lead after one. Hassinger connected on a jumper and DiMuro another layup before freshman
Camille Menns finished the run with a pair of free throws.
An 11-0 run from the Warriors came as an immediate response as the visitors took a 17-15 lead on a Chelsea Henderson layup just over two minutes into the second quarter. The next nearly three minutes saw the teams exchange scoring possessions with Lycoming taking a 20-24 lead on an Olivia Manges three just before the halfway point of the frame. Addy Crenny hit back-to-back layups putting Arcadia back in front 27-24 with 3:10 left until the break. Roseman hit another three with 44 ticks left to send the Knight to the half ahead 30-27.
After Lycoming regained a two point advantage early in the third quarter, freshman
Susan Bossler scored five of the next eight points helping the Knights regain the lead at 41-35 with 3:20 left in the stanza. The visitors tied the game on the ensuing 8-2 run until Crenny and Bossler combined for the next four points to lead 47-43 with 7:33 left in regulation. Neither team scored over the next seven minutes until Lycoming's Shelby Mueller converted a layup with 34 ticks to go. The Knights led by four with 32 seconds left, but Haley Sipple tied the game on a lay-in with just nine seconds to go, Henderson made one of two free throws with three seconds left for the win.
The Knights shot 30.4% in the game, but just 20% over the last 20 minutes. Bossler and Roseman combined for 20 of the Knights 22 bench points, with Bossler tallying nine of 4 of 5 shooting and Roseman 11 on 3 of 6 shooting. The Warriors shot just 32.8% from the field in the win led by Henderson and Mueller with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Knights return home on Wednesday when they host Alvernia at 6 p.m.
