Second Half Surge Helps Propel Muhlenberg to 20-9 Win over Women’s Lacrosse Team

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team was outscored 10-3 in the second half as it dropped a 20-9 non-conference decision to the visiting Muhlenberg College Mules Tuesday afternoon at Easton Field. The Mules improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Knights fell to 1-1 with the loss.

It was a back and forth affair in the first half, with Arcadia trailing by one after goals by sophomore Allegra Benites and junior Erin Misner made it 6-5 midway through the period. Muhlenberg scored four of the next five goals to take a 10-6 lead at the half, with Stephanie D'ascoli contributing to three of those tallies with one goal and two assists.

Amanda Tullos opened the second half scoring just 16 seconds into the frame for the Mules before senior Jessica Santoli and Misner answered for the Knights to pull them back within three at 11-8. That was as close as Arcadia would get the rest of the way as Muhlenberg closed the game with a 9-1 run.

D'ascoli and Casey Armstrong accounted for four goals each to lead the Mules, with D'ascoli adding a pair of assists and two ground balls. Jordy Bonvini, and Kelsey Nagle and Arielle Sherman added three goals each. Sara Allison (2-0) got the win in the cage after allowing six goals with two saves in the first half; Kiersten Mulvey had five saves and three goals against playing all 30 minutes of the second half.

Misner finished with four goals to lead Arcadia, while Benites finishes with two goals and one assist. Senior Adeline Bellesheim (one goal, two assists) and Santoli (one goal, one assist) also had multi-point games. Senior Jordyn Dunacusky (1-1) played all 60 minutes in goal, totaling a season-high 16 saves.

The Knights will look to bounce back one week from today when they travel to Neumann University for a 4 p.m. non-conference contest.
