GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-6 MAC Commonwealth decision to Stevenson on a snowy Saturday afternoon at Easton Field. The Mustangs moved to 4-7 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Knights fell to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In the first half, the Mustangs took an early 3-0 lead before sophomore Marie Brockman and senior Adeline Bellesheim were able to find the back of the net for the Knights. Stevenson's Hollie Larrimore was able to put the Mustangs' up 4-2, but almost a minute later senior Dawn Farnetta brought the Knights back within one; the first period ended on a Stevenson goal as they took a 5-3 lead into halftime. Bellesheim and junior Erin Misner opened the second period with a pair of goals in the first four and a half minutes to even the score at 5-5. However, Stevenson would go on a 6-0 run, with three goals coming from Larrimore, to bring the score to 11-5 with 3:19 left in the game. Misner snapped the run a minute later for the Knights for the 11-6 final.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Bellesheim notched two goals and one assist for three points, while Misner had two goals, three ground balls and three draw controls. Brockman had one goal, one caused turnover and three draw controls, while Farnetta had one goal, one assist and two draw controls. Junior Sarah Obuchowski recorded six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
STEVENSON LEADERS: Larrimore led all scorers with five goals on the day. Kellie McLaughlin and Olivia Monteiro each netted two, while Molly Gonzalez and Jamie Bittner found the net once. Shelby Walter recorded four ground balls , four caused turnovers and one draw control, while Carli Bafford picked up three ground balls, two caused turnovers and seven draw controls.
IN GOAL: Maggie Lawder made 12 saves and four ground balls in 60 minutes in the net to move to 4-7 on the season. Senior Jordyn Dunacusky fell to 4-6 after allowing all of the Mustangs' goals.
