Early Tally Gives William Paterson 1-0 Edge over Field Hockey Team

WAYNE, N.J. – The Arcadia University field hockey team fell at William Paterson University Tuesday night in a defensive battle that concluded with a 1-0 final score. The Pioneers improved to 4-1 win the win, while the Knights fell to 0-5 after suffering their third one-goal setback of the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: William Paterson put the pressure on Arcadia early, which paid off as Michaela Meillier scored just 4:01 into the match. The Pioneers defense made that early goal stand up as they withstood a late second half surge from the Knights to record their fourth straight shutout win.
 
IN GOAL: Mallory Rickerhauser stopped the only shot on goal she faced to earn the win in goal for William Paterson. Senior Brittany Hodson totaled six saves while taking the loss for Arcadia.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Pioneers owned a 9-3 advantage in shots for the game, while Arcadia owned a 6-4 advantage in penalty corners. The Knights had a 3-1 edge on corners in the second half, which included one late following a shot from senior Allie Hines that was saved and another from sophomore Nicole Hassett the just missed to the left of the cage.
