GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University men's volleyball team rebounded from a 3-1 loss to Lancaster Bible College to record a 3-0 victory over Cairn University Friday night at Alumni Gymnasium to record the first win in the first-year program's history. They were the first two matches in program history.
FOR THE RECORD: Arcadia is off to a 1-1 start in its first varsity season. Lancaster Bible improved to 2-2 with its win over the Knights, while Cairn fell to 0-9 on the season.
ARCADIA 3, CAIRN 0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-18)
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights got out to a 4-1 lead in the opening set and never looked back, later using a five-point run to go up 12-5 and 4-1 surge to open a 21-12 lead before closing out the first game 25-17. The second game was might closer, with neither team leading by more than three the whole way. The Knights used a four-point run, the largest of the set, to go up 22-20 before going on to win 27-25 on a block by sophomore

Robie Moctezuma.
Arcadia was up 14-13 in the third before a kill from freshman
Bryce Galloway started a 6-2 surge gave the Knights a 20-15 cushion. Classmate
Jason Manley later scored a 4-1 run to close the match, which was won with a kill by fellow freshman
Jarod Pichler to close out the sweep.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Manley led the Knights with match-high totals of nine kills and four aces in his collegiate debut, while Pichler added seven kills and a match-high nine digs. Abraham tallied a match-high 25 assists with seven digs.
CAIRN LEADERS: Micah Godshall led the Highlanders with seven kills and eight digs, while Andy Willits added six kills with seven assists. Ryan Ludvik had 17 assists and five digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia outscored Cairn 44-25 in the match, totaling 31 kills, seven blocks and six aces while hitting .211 as a team. Cairn totaled just 25 kills and four aces as it hit -.026.
LANCASTER BIBLE 3, ARCADIA 1 (25-22, 22-25, 16-25, 19-25)
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights recovered from an early 12-4 deficit to win their first game as a varsity program, 25-22. Freshman
Austin Braas started a 6-1 run with a kill to pull the Knights within three, 13-10, and then registered a kill that opened a 7-1 run to put Arcadia in front 22-18. Galloway closed the set with a kill for the 25-22 final, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead.
The second game was tied at 22-all following a kill from Braas, but the Chargers scored the last three points with the help of two Arcadia errors to win the set 25-22 and tie the match at 1-1. Lancaster Bible scored six of the first eight points in the third game before pulling away with a 5-1 run to go up 22-12 on its way to a 25-16 win. The Chargers closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth game, using a five-point run open a 19-9 advantage to put the game away.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Braas hit .450 with a team-=best 12 kills on 20 attempts with three errors. Galloway and freshman
Edwin Waters Jr. added seven kills each, while senior
Sean Cohen handed out 29 assists.
LANCASTER BIBLE LEADERS: Kasey Gentry scored a match-high 16 kills to go with 10 digs to lead the Chargers to the win, while Kole Horst added 10 kill with five digs. Kabel Ansell registered a match-high 34 assists with six digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Lancaster Bible held a narrow 59-51 edge in scoring for the match, totaling 45 kills, eight aces and six blocks while hitting .204 as a team. The Knights totaled 37 kills, nine blocks and five aces while hitting .125.
