Pair of Second Half Goals Lifts Women’s Soccer Past Widener

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team continued its conference success with a 2-0 win over Widener Wednesday night on Jean Lenox West Field.  The Knights scored both of their goals in the second half.
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia improved to 11-5 on the year and 5-1 in the MAC Commonwealth
  • The Pride own a 9-5 record, including a 2-3 mark in conference play
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Kayla Haberbosch met twine in the 50th minute when she finished a cross from junior Mia Bertolami inside the six-yard box
  • Senior Jess Kelly converted her fourth penalty kick of the year in the 62nd minute
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Scarlet and Grey outshot the Pride 14-7 on the night, including 9-3 in shots on goal
  • Kelly put all four of her shot attempts on target, while Haberbosch put both of her attempts on goal
  • Freshman Brianna Williams made three saves in the shutout
  • Widener's Sam Thach made seven saves and allowed two goals in the loss
NOTES:
  • The Knights have won four of the last five meetings. The teams battled to a 2-2 draw in 2013
  • Kelly sits in 5th all-time with 88 career points; Haberbosch is in 6th with 86 career points
  • Kelly tied Kim Canfield for 5th all-time with 32 career goals
  • The Knights currently sit atop the MAC Commonwealth standings
  • This was Arcadia's seventh shutout of the season
