Women’s Soccer Bests Albright on Senior Day to Close Regular Season

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's soccer team wrapped up regular season play Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 win over Albright. Prior to the start of the match, the Knights recognized seniors Kristen Carrete, Evelyn Feigeles, Kayla Haberbosch, Jess Kelly and Tara Smith for their dedication and contributions to the program over the past four season.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Scarlet and Grey conclude the regular season with a 13-5 record and a 7-1 mark in the MAC Commonwealth.
  • The Lions end the regular season at 10-7-1 with a 4-3-1 conference mark
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Carrete wasted no time finding the back of the net as she collected the rebound off her own shot and scored to the right side of the cage in the 4th minute
  • Kelly got in on the scoring just under 10 minutes into the second half, as she finished on a corner from junior Stephanie Maggio in the 55th minute.
  • Junior Veronica Pontis netted what proved to be the game-winner in the 65th minute as she fired a shot into the upper right 90
  • Albright scored its goals in the 38th and 90th minutes
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Arcadia outshot the visitors 18-7 in the match, including 8-6 in shots on goal.
  • The Knights doubled up the Lions in corner kicks 8-4
  • Feigeles picked up the win, making two saves in 52:56 of play
  • Kelly led all players with four shots
  • Haberbosch and sophomore Veronica Garcia each fired two shots
NOTES:
  • Kelly moved into a tie for third all-time in single season points (38) and tied for second in single season goals (17) and into third in career goals (33)
  • This marks Arcadia's eighth straight win over Albright; the Knights have never lost to the Lions
  • The regular season comes to a close with a five-game winning streak
PLAYOFF PICTURE:
  • The Knights locked up the No. 2 seed in next week's MAC Commonwealth Championship
  • Arcadia will host third-seeded Widener Thursday night in the Semifinal. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
