Shannon Ryan scored a game-high five goals with two assists to lead the Arcadia University women's lacrosse team to a 21-8 victory over visiting Old Westbury Saturday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field.
FOR THE RECORD: The Knights improved to 2-0 for the season with their second straight double-digit victory. This was the first game of the season for the Panthers.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Arcadia looked to be in control early after scoring eight of the first 10 goals in the game, but Old Westbury used a 4-1 surge to close within 9-6 following back-to-back goals from Natasha Treuman with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Junior
Allegra Benites answered with back-to-back goals of her own to spark a nine-goal run for the Knights that was capped by senior
Erin Misner's fourth goal of the game, which gave Arcadia an 18-6 lead eight minutes into the second half.
The game was halted following Ryan's fifth goal of the game, eighth of the season, with 3:38 remaining on the clock as thunderstorms rolled into the area.

OLD WESYBURY LEADERS: Treuman led the Panthers with four goals, five groundballs, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sara Bey added a pair of goals while grabbing three draw controls.
IN GOAL: Liz Stierle improved to 2-0 after totaling four saves for the Knights. Ashley Gugliuzzo had just six saves in goal for the Panthers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Arcadia outshot Old Westbury 42-14 in the game to go with a 19-11 advantage on draw controls and a 19-15 edge in groundballs. The Knights were 13 of 15 on clear attempts, while the Panthers were just 12 for 22.
