Women’s Basketball Drops 77-61 Decision to Lycoming

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's basketball team fell 77-61 to Lycoming Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth action. The loss dropped the Knights to 6-15 on the season and 2-10 in conference play, while the Warriors improved to 14-7 overall and 8-5 in the MAC Commonwealth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The visitors jumped on the Knights early, opening the game on a 14-7 run that lasted the first four minutes of the contest. A minute and a half later, Arcadia was within three following back-to-back layups from seniors Maureen Fiocca and Imani Alston.  After outscoring Arcadia 14-6 in the second quarter, the Warriors took a 25-18 lead to the break.
 
The Knights came out hot in the second half, going 5-6 from the field in the over the first 3:38 of the third quarter, as sophomore Susan Bossler scored five points to highlight an 11-3 run that cut the deficit to seven. The third quarter came to a close with Lycoming on a 14-8 run and a 56-43 lead.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Fiocca led all scorers with 26 points, followed by Bossler with 17. Sophomore Sammy Downham led the way off the glass with seven rebounds, followed by Fiocca and sophomore Olivia Roseman with six. Roseman led the team with five assists.
 
LYCOMING LEADERS: Five Warriors reached double figures led by Akilah McFadden with 14; Kayla Kline and Shelby Mueller each added 13 as Nicole Calella and Haley Sipple posted 12 points apiece. Calella led all players with nine rebounds and six assists.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Knights shot 22-56 from the field, including 5-15 from beyond the arc, while going 12-14 at the charity stripe. The Warriors were 29-64 from the floor, including 4-15 from distance, while going 15-17 at the free throw line.
