ARLINGTON, Va. – The Arcadia University men's lacrosse team fell 8-6 at Marymount Wednesday afternoon. The Knights dropped to 2-6 on the season, while the Saints improved to 3-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights struck first when senior
Joe Stanton buried a feed from freshman
Tanner Pajakinas just under six minutes in. After the teams traded the next two goals, the hosts netted three straight to take a 4-2 lead with 3:27 to go until the break. Back-to-back goals from freshman
Josh Keitz and sophomore
Nick Ferraro 16 seconds apart tied the game at four with 3:16 to go in the second quarter. Dylan Williams sent the Saints to the half with a 5-4 lead after scoring with 1:10 to go in the second quarter.
Marymount scored the first two goals of the third quarter to push its lead to 7-4 before Ferraro netted a man-down goal with less than four minutes to go. The Saints added one more, before Stanton closed the scoring with a man-up goal with 44 ticks on the clock.
ARCADIA LEADERS: Ferraro and Stanton each found the back of the net twice, while Pajakinas handed out two assists.
MARYMOUNT LEADERS: Nathan Beard, Dylan Watkins and Matthew Ebert each scored twice, while Sean Friedman scored once and handed out an assist.
IN GOAL: Sophomore
Danny Lipkin (2-6) made 14 saves in the loss for Arcadia. Marymount's Grey Clarkson (2-8) got the win while making 10 saves.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The Saints outshot the Knights 39-22, including 22-16 in shots on goal. Each team converted once with the extra-man opportunity, with Arcadia going 1-3 and Marymount going 1-5.
