Second Half Alvernia Rally Results in Women’s Lacrosse Setback

READING, Pa. – The Arcadia University women's lacrosse team held a 10-7 lead at the half but couldn't hang on as it dropped a 20-16 MAC Commonwealth contest at Alvernia University Tuesday night.
 
FOR THE RECORD: The Crusaders improved to 7-8 overall and 3-4 in conference play while snapping a four-game losing streak. The Knights fell to 6-8 overall and 1-6 in league play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Knights used a seven-goal surge in the first half to open an 8-3 lead, senior Erin Misner started the run with 13 minutes left in the first half and capped it off with her second goal of the game six minutes later. Misner's third goal made it 10-5 with three minutes left in the opening half before goals from Bridget Reynolds and Abby McCarthy cut Arcadia's lead to 10-7 at the half.
 
The Crusaders carried that momentum into the second half, opening a 20-13 lead following back-to-back goals from Reynolds with just under five minutes to go in the game. The Knights closed the game on three-goal run that started with a tally from Misner and ended with back-to-back goals from junior Nicole Hutson for the 20-16 final.  
 
IN GOAL: Samantha Rothman picked up the win in goal after allowing six goals and making four saves in the second half. Kallie Taylor had five saves and allowed 10 goals in the first half. Freshman Veandra Selby took the loss after allowing 14 goals and making seven saves in her 51:32 played.
 
ARCADIA LEADERS: Misner finished the game with four goals for the Knights, while junior Allegra Benites scored three goals with two assists for a team-best five points. Freshman Jessica Kaye scored three goals with one helper, while Hutson also had a three-goal game.
 
ALVERNIA LEADERS: Brooke Campione and Reynolds scored six goals each to lead the Crusaders to the come-from-behind win. McCarthy added four goals and assisted on another.
